Melany Pietersen has been working as a freelance artist ever since she matriculated in 1999 at Pro Arte Alphen Park, Pretoria. She has worked for various companies locally and internationally, specialising in a variety of commercial art skills. (Namely: Illustration work, fine art commissions, scenic painting, teaching arts and crafts to children, and painting custom-designed murals for children’s rooms and nurseries.)
Besides a few illustrations done for Heinemann and Blue Note Art studio, most of the artist’s work is still unpublished. Her artworks would thus satisfy any writer or publisher looking for something fresh and new.
Her work is imaginative, playful, extremely creative and original. Whether it be a mural or an illustration, children are generally mesmerized with her work, and get completely absorbed into whatever fantastical realm or fairy tale she is portraying.
