Rob Foote was born and grew up in South Africa and has been drawing for as long as he can remember, he doesn’t have a very good memory though.

After studying Fine Art at the KwaZulu Natal Art and Design Institution he spent the next few years following his heart on a somewhat erratic journey around the world and into movie set making, bronze casting and furniture design, all the while keeping pen to paper and the creative juices juicy.

Now he finds himself with a few published books on the shelf, a first prize in the Coca Cola Young Designers Award, a wife, a receding hairline and a real desire to pursue illustration full time. Fascinated by Japanese art and culture he has recently moved to Tokyo with his wife.

Rob has illustrated books for Human & Rousseau, Lapa  Uitgewers, New Africa Books and more recently for AEON Institute Japan.
